Radical Relationships: Part 1

by Craig F. Harrison

Welcome to the first part of a new series on Reflections with Craig! Every year, I have the honor of giving a series of lectures for Reflections—a wonderful non-profit dedicated to inspiring people and sharing faith. This year, I chose a topic that hits close to home for all of us: Radical Relationships.

Our relationships are truly the most important thing we have in this life. A “radical relationship” isn’t a perfect one—there will always be miscommunications and misunderstandings—but it is a bond deeply rooted in Christ, built on truth and love, and sustained by intentional effort, grace, and forgiveness.

Lessons on Living Without Regret:

In Matthew Kelly’s book, Resisting Happiness, he shares key lessons learned from asking people near the end of their lives what they wished they had done differently:

  • Prioritize Love: “I wish I would have spent more time with people I love.”
  • Deepen Faith: “I wish I would have made spirituality and my relationship with the Lord more of a priority.”
  • Work & Worry Less: “I wish I had not spent so much time working” and “so much time worrying about things that never happened.”
  • Stay Connected: “I wish I’d stayed in touch with old friends” and “touched more lives.”

As Scripture reminds us in Colossians, “Above all, put on love.” In a world full of noise and busyness, it’s so easy to get distracted from the people and the faith that matter most.

Which of these end-of-life lessons hits closest to home for you today? 🕊️
