Patience

Craig Harrison - Coffee With Jesus

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about the word “patience”.  Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

This past week, I found myself being impatient with my grandchildren and their homework, impatient with projects not getting accomplished, and with dishes in the sink.  I really planned on blaming it on someone or something else, but I know I have always struggled with patience. Most of all, I noticed how impatient I am with myself.

Today, I am going to focus on being more patient, not being so anxious about things, but allow the Lord to bring each moment, each person, each experience to me, and for me, to embrace.  I am going to strive today not to be petty, not to rush, but to be present.

And just as I am getting ready to offer up my prayers, my mind jumped to what I do next after prayer!  Do I have any waffles left?  Where is my To Do List?  But I caught myself and came back to being one with HIM.

That is what the first five minutes of prayer is like for me.  It looks like this may be a long day learning to be patient.  Darn!  I wanted it right now.

Have a patient, grace-filled day.

I seem to have more patience with others than with myself. I do try to remember “God is in charge”. That will bring be back to my true focus and settle my thoughts. Thank you for sharing your words every day
