Radical Relationships: Staying Connected with Old Friends 🤝✨
Welcome back to Reflections with Craig! Today, we are diving into session six of our series on radical relationships, drawing insights from Matthew Kelly’s book Resisting Happiness.
One of the top ten regrets expressed by people near the end of their lives was: “I wish I’d stayed in touch with old friends.”
As we get older, our circles often shrink. But it is never too late to reach out, show up, and rekindle those meaningful bonds.
Making the Effort Count:
- Say “Yes” to Reconnecting: Instead of defaulting to “I’m too busy,” make the effort to go to fraternity reunions, class reunions, or local gatherings. You never know what beautiful relationship might be rekindled.
- Look Beyond Yourself: My dear inspiration, Esther Lozano—who just turned 97—is constantly out, remembering birthdays, checking on friends, and staying involved. She doesn’t wait for people to focus on her; she goes outside of herself.
- Remember the Seasons: People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace the connections God places in your path today.
Today is Cash—Spend It Wisely ⏳
In AA, they say: “Yesterday is a canceled check, tomorrow is a promissory note, and today is cash—spend it wisely.” Intentions are just empty promises without action. Stop assuming there’s endless time, and make that call or send that message today.
