Radical Relationships: Leaving a Lasting Legacy 🌿✨
Welcome back to Reflections with Craig! Today, we are diving into session five of our Radical Relationships series, continuing our look at the top insights from Matthew Kelly’s book, Resisting Happiness.
One of the deepest regrets people expressed near the end of life was: “I wish I had touched more lives and influenced more people.”
So many think leaving a legacy requires fame or wealth, but true influence comes from simply sharing your gifts, keeping traditions alive, and leaving a footprint of love in the everyday moments.
Incredible Examples of Influence:
- Margaret Gannon: At age 65, she went back to school, earned her counseling degree, and founded a support group. She continued serving others two days a week until she passed away at 93—touching countless lives along the way.
- Eleanor Vory: At 96 years old, this retired schoolteacher would put on her little white gloves, drive over to the senior care home, and play music for the residents—most of whom were younger than she was!
- Family Traditions: I think back to my years in Firebaugh, watching grandmothers sit on stools during Christmas, guiding generations of family as they made tamales together. Those memories stay with grandchildren forever.
Passing On Your Gifts 🌅
You have likely influenced far more people in your life than you will ever know. Whether it is teaching a traditional recipe, sharing stories with your grandkids, passing down heritage, or simply showing up for a neighbor, these connection points build truly radical relationships.
What are your unique gifts, and how are you sharing them today?
What is a favorite family tradition or lesson that you love passing down to others? 🕊️
