Radical Acceptance: The Power of Persistence 📝✨
Welcome back to session eight of Conversations with Craig. Today, I want to share some incredibly practical steps that I have personally studied, applied, and lived out in my own life when it comes to healing broken family bonds.
As I’ve shared before, I had a child who did not speak to me for ten years. Today, they are actively back in my life, and that breakthrough required a massive amount of persistence, prayer, and radical forgiveness.
My Practical Steps for Reconnecting:
- Keep a Prayer List: I keep a list of the people who have deeply hurt me in different ways. I wish I could tell you it only has a few names on it, but it’s actually a pretty long list.
- Shift Your Prayers: When you look at that list, the human temptation is to pray, “Lord, make them suffer.” Instead, I choose to pray: “Lord, awaken them. Open their eyes, and open mine. Give us the opportunity to reconnect.”
- Seek Wise Guidance: Don’t try to navigate this alone. Investing in counseling and spiritual direction is a powerful asset to help guide you through the emotional landscape of estrangement.
Even during those ten long years of silence, my prayer list constantly reminded me that I was on a journey. Healing is rarely a straight line, but persistence in faith and love changes everything.
Is there someone on your heart today whom you need to start praying an “awakening prayer” over? 🕊️
Watch Episode 8 now, and let’s keep moving forward together.
