As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus on this beautiful morning, the day we honor our Lady of Guadalupe, I think of my mother, as today is her birthday. Yesterday brought the realization to me that I need to work harder at seeing the PRESENCE of God in everything. I lit my second candle on my advent wreath and the light is very bright!
There are times we go up and down, and even sideways, but the consistent factor in our life must be JESUS CHRIST! As my coffee mug says, Matthew 28:20 “I am with you always”. It is the perfect reminder we are never alone. It also reminds me that it’s the little thoughtful things that people do that spreads the love of Christ. The oranges left at my front door, the beautiful Christmas cards I receive, a visit from a longtime friend, all create blessings. All the simple things remind me of how blessed I am.
Today is my turn to show kindness, to be the light to others, and to celebrate that Jesus is with us always. Just like my car battery yesterday, everything and everyone sometimes just needs a boost. Have a blessed day!

Buon Giorno Monsignor Craig,
Being cognizant of our presence with ourselves, others and most important our personal relationship with our Father does take practice. Especially with our technological times, you see families in restaurants and you think, how wonderful, the entire family is praying while eating. As your chatting in person with your coworkers both are half listening as all are texting. Some, which I don’t recommend are driving and texting.
Our world has embraced not using presence.
I’ve deplugged completely from social media etc. between 4 to 5 times a year. I had realized I was on it way too much at the detriment of my relationships with my loved ones. I’d rather talk or go with a walk in person vs thumbing through my feed.
I’d rather go have lunch with my childhood BFF, I’d rather go see a movie with m boyfriend, I’d rather take my daughter to be pampered by going to Avila Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort & Spa, getting a facial, a deep tissue massage and a relaxing hot mineral springs outdoor hot tub.
I take my daily walks, jogs with our Father and I’ve come to relish my quiet time with him. I don’t answer my phone calls, emails, texts nor check social media during my time with HIM. It took practice as I did almost feel an addiction to being on social media. With time it became easier. I’ve taken trips to the mountains or to Pismo and I have completely been devoid of my social media platforms.
My presence with our Father and my loved ones are definitely more important than messages, photos and videos of strangers.
Have a wonderful Blessed Dia De Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe
The day honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe brings back memories of going on this day to our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Bakersfield with my Nonna back in the 50s and 60s. Thank you for the beautiful memory.
