As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was reflecting on a conversation with a friend of mine yesterday. He said, “There’s just no SPIRIT in Christmas this year!” I agreed with him, but then last night I was thinking about it. The SPIRIT of Jesus is IN us, and if we are not trusting HIM and allowing the SPIRIT to come forth, there is no real reason to celebrate Christmas.
The holiday originated to honor the newborn KING, Emmanuel, “God is with us”, to pray, to sing, to worship, and to WELCOME Jesus. Then it became commercialized. Just maybe we need to look back at the REAL meaning of Christmas. So, parties may be canceled, gifts may be simplified, and many of us may even spend Christmas alone. But we do have the choice to spend it with JESUS.
Today we can begin to bring that SPIRIT of Jesus alive with our words, our attitudes, our KINDNESS, and our excitement; this is what the season is truly about. The next days can be Filled with sadness and complaining, or it can be filled with JESUS. It’s Our choice! Let’s prepare to welcome the newborn, care, and get into the SPIRIT!
