DETACHMENT

Craig Harrison - Coffee With Jesus

As I sit and have my cappuccino with Jesus, I think back to Assisi, Italy. I am thinking about the word “detachment”.  Everyday things are changing and often I find myself holding tight on the way I want things to go. I make lists and schedule lots of appointments and then I get to Assisi. And I realize the Italians understand detachment.

I saw people having a coffee and chatting with friends on the way to work, not rushing.  Street markets greet people.  Kids played in the streets with their soccer ball as they go to school.  They are detached from clock time.  Meals take hours as people savor the meal and conversation. I am glad to have visited there to remember that the simple things are important and I do not have to be driven or attached to “a Way”. Today I remember Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Ciao!
