As I have coffee with Jesus on this beautiful morning, I can’t help but think about mothers. I think of my own mother, who passed away a few years ago. What a gift she was. May is the month of our Blessed Mother, Mary. So, this month, I wish all of you who have been mothers a very blessed and Happy Mother’s Day.
In a special way, I am thinking of mothers who are estranged from their children or mothers who have lost a child. There are some mothers today who have children who suffer from addiction, from mental illness, or who are, for whatever reason, estranged. I ask you to say a special prayer for your children, to know that they love you, even in their own pain and their own life’s journey.
I also lift up mothers who have suffered the loss of a child at any stage of life. I pray that you know the love of your child, the love that can never die. May you live in the promise of Christ that you will be together again. May Mother’s Day also remind us of the gift that Christ gave us in HIS own mother.
Today is a beautiful day to celebrate the gift of our mothers. And I want to thank all the other special women out there who have been mothers to me…you know who you are!
Have a blessed day! And call your mother!
