Potter

Craig Harrison's Coffee with Jesus reflections provide a healthy cup of daily inspiration to start your day. Cover art by

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking of the sculptor’s hands.  A friend of mine, an artist in Canada, sent me some clay.  I have been practicing taking this block of clay and letting God guide my hands to create!  Isaiah 64:8 says, “We are the clay, and You are the potter.  We are all the work of Your hands! “

I may not create a masterpiece, but that doesn’t matter.  Just working the clay, seeing the transformation, reminds me of what God is doing in my life.  So often I have tried to be the potter in my own life, creating an image that was not the God in me.  It’s like the vase that I tried to make in junior high school.  When I brought it home, my mother said she loved the ashtray!

Today, we can trust the Lord to mold us, sometimes to squash us and re-form us, to become the magnificent piece of art that we are. Today, I am going to celebrate that God is still creating this Masterpiece!

Have a blessed day with God as the Potter.

Well, you were a GOOD ashtray... but God is turning you into a BEAUTIFUL vase! It has been so painful to see you getting crushed in the process, but God is allowing us to see His artistry in His creation of a saint!

Buon Giorno Monsignor, Your metaphor is relatable to ALL of us, we all deal with what we view our life and journey should look, feel and experience. Your vase you carefully crafted seen by your mom as an astray is hilarious. Your follower below, Tammy, articulated my exact sentiment, “! It has been so painful to see you getting crushed in the process, but God is allowing us to see His artistry in His creation of a saint!“ One take-away I’ve finally realized, (after many many artistic disasters in my life). Our Father gives us the mold able clay, I believe HE trusts us to envision an idea of where and how our life might be, but in the end HE decides what clay will be made permanent.
