As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking of a phrase that Mother Teresa said, “I see God in every human being. When I wash the leper’s wounds, I feel I am nursing the Lord himself.” Is that not a beautiful expression? When I was going to an appointment the other day, I saw a homeless woman on the street. I wish I could say that I pulled over and ministered to her needs, but I caught myself wanting to ignore her. I’ve seen her many times before; what happened to my empathy and compassion?
It’s easy to become frustrated when it seems our streets are becoming crowded with homeless people and complain about them, but when did we stop seeing Jesus in others? Mother Theresa is a great reminder that HE is present in them! When we can see Jesus in every one of our brothers and sisters, when we don’t see race, poverty, sex, or class, we can restore order and peace to our world.
Today, I am going to look for Jesus in everyone I encounter. And I am going to ask for the grace to see the Lord‘s face in each of them and offer them dignity, love, and peace!
Have a wonderful day encountering Jesus!
