Trust Him

Craig Harrison's Coffee with Jesus reflections provide a healthy cup of daily inspiration to start your day. Cover art by

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus this morning, I was thinking about a little quote I read, “more is accomplished by folding your hands than by wringing them.” In other words, when we put our hands together in prayer, we can accomplish a lot more than when we wring them in worry!

What are you worried about that you have not taken it to God? God‘s office hours are 24/7. I think today it’s easier for us to worry than it is to TRUST. This pandemic has certainly shaken our lives and routines, but we have to believe that God is right there, and prayer connects us to HIM. Today turn to the Son of God with your worries and fears, get renewed, get excited, get fulfilled, for no day is ordinary with an extraordinary God. Have a blessed day!

Good morning Monsignor Craig, I loved and was reminded of the importance of letting go of all our worries and concerns. “More is accomplished by folding your hands than by wringing them.” In other words, when we put our hands together in prayer, we can accomplish a lot more than when we wring them in worry.” I now understand wholeheartedly the freedom one feels when we walk in full Faith with our Lord; I used to, like many, have a problem, get upset, angry or worry about some Earthly trivial problem. After a long painful journey our Father gifted me the ability to exhibit and feel the Glory of letting go of my anxiety, depression, concern, anger and/or worry. Attaining this level of trust in HIM has been a LONG journey, but so worthwhile. I have everyday problems and worries as we all do, the main DISTINCTION, I now think about the problem, reflect, analyze and reflect again. After breathing and praying I’ll ask myself a CRITICAL question, “Is this in my ability to control?” If the answer is yes, I wait before rushing in to rectify the so called problem. In many many situations the important step of wait time is a simple solution. Even when time doesn’t resolve the situation, it allows continual processing and reflection. In occasions, where the problem is out of my sphere of influence/control; I visually do the following: I pretend I grab the problem in my hand, place it in a gift wrapped box. Close the box with super duper duct tape and literally place the “GIFT” in HIS hands. This small conscious action has been a paradigm shift in my thinking and in my mental well being. Why worry, why be sad, why be angry why be wrought with concern with situations completely out of our control? Sounds silly doesn’t it? It truly is this simple! Just gift ALL our worries and concerns to our Father. It truly has been a life altering journey. I’m grateful for all the pain, anguish, hurt and sadness I’ve been through. Each moment, each situation and memory have taught me an incredible life-long lesson. Even though I’m in pain daily due to genetic incurable potentially fatal gifts from God (I prefer this term vs illnesses), I’m truly happier now, even though my life was turned completely upside down. Through pain and suffering I relish and appreciate beauty, kindness, happiness, love, empathy and joy. I enjoy the simple things in life, walking in nature, listening to my daughter playing the piano, spending time with family and friends, reading, meditating and playing in my garden. I appreciate those who truly love and genuinely care for me. A broken humble sinner, who tries to be better each day. He’s healed me with sparkling glittery purple duct tape. Love ❤️ you Monsignor Craig

Great positive message! The Bishop was here yesterday and gave mass at all the masses--I think! He saw a church only partially filled-with plenty of seats available for other parishioners. All the priests, deacons, etc. were sitting at the alter in support!?! The individual mic he was using made it hard to understand him most of the time! One of the ushers after mass out in front of the church asked me why I didn't get in line for a special blessing. I told him I had already been blessed by priests and that my surgery had been delayed due to the tech quitting! Then I walked to my car and drove away!..........He reminds me of a priest we had in New Mexico, whom the parishioners got fed up with and went to other Catholic Churches. He was then called back to the diocese and reassigned to another Catholic Church elsewhere! Turns out he was a major alcoholic! The bishop there , was also soon replaced! This happened years ago! Amen and God Bless everyone!
