Stand Firm

Craig Harrison's Coffee with Jesus reflections provide a healthy cup of daily inspiration to start your day. Cover art by

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about a phrase I came across yesterday, “STAND FIRM.”  I found it in 1 Corinthians 16:13, “Be watchful, STAND FIRM in faith, be strong.” And Ephesians 6:11 says, “Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to STAND FIRM against the schemes of the devil.”  In 1 Peter 5: it says, “Resist him, STAND FIRM in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by others throughout the world.”

Sometimes it’s easy to want to throw in the towel or to give up the fight.  Sometimes we begin to lose our patience or become negative and critical.  We can gain strength from the words of Christ, “STAND FIRM.”  Stand firm that this, too, will pass.  STAND FIRM that we can make a difference.  STAND FIRM that we can grow and become better people.  STAND FIRM in the WORD and presence of Jesus, even in the storm.

Today, let us STAND FIRM in our belief that all is in the hands of Jesus.  Jesus walks with us through our trials; they will bring us to a deeper relationship with HIM.

STAND FIRM and smile!

Good morning Monsignor I’ve been able to sustain my own pain, my own trials because of the life altering message in Ephesians 6:11, “Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to STAND FIRM against the schemes of the devil.” Until I FIRMLY STOOD in my faith my life was similar to a fish floundering out of water, I struggled, I fought, I tried to submit to my pain. Our Father placed HIS whole armor around me lovingly but with firmness, with HIS strength, I’ve been growing stronger physically and mentally. I am now an advocate and share my journey with physical & mental health trying to make a positive difference with others who are struggling. I’m sharing my pain, my trials to help others STAND FIRM, while breaking away from their own self imposed shackles. Thank you for this profound message
