SELF-AWARENESS

Craig Harrison's Coffee with Jesus reflections provide a healthy cup of daily inspiration to start your day. Cover art by

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about SELF-AWARENESS. The Bible tells us in 1 Timothy 4:16, “Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching.  Persist in this, for by doing so you will save both yourself and your hearers.”

It is important for us to have self-awareness.  In 2 Corinthians 13:5 it says, “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?”  Every day when we wake up and when we go to bed, we should do some self-reflection. We should examine ourselves and be aware of how our day has gone, or how we can be better, or whether we responded like Christ. True self-awareness helps us to see the Christ that lives in us.

Today, take time to reflect and be aware of yourself and the Christ that lives within you. When you do, you become a light in a world where there is a lot of darkness. We need the light more than ever.

Have a blessed day and be aware of the great GIFT you are!

Hello Craig - This is a very important Inspiration of yours as it follows up on Bernard Lonergan's methodological first step of self appropriation. I very much enjoy your Inspirations and believe you are "right on" when you take the concepts of self-awareness and self-appropriation to self-trust. Thanks again for all of your efforts. Best, Tom
