Healing

Craig Harrison's Coffee with Jesus reflections provide a healthy cup of daily inspiration to start your day. Cover art by

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about all the responses yesterday about BROKENNESS.  A few friends came by and we shared our own brokenness.  One shared about a disconnect from a child, one shared about the fear they are experiencing with the chaos in the world, and I talked about the despair that happens when your life gets turned upside down.

The beauty of our discussion was that we could all be vulnerable.  We realize that each of our pain differs in some ways; it is really just pain.

We talked about the HEALING needed in our lives.  Henri Nouwen says, “The first step to healing is not a step away from the pain, but a step toward it.”  I like this quote, but it is easier said than done.  He challenges us to think of one kind of brokenness in our life that we have avoided rather than befriended.

Today, with the help of Jesus, I’m going to strive to embrace the brokenness, the pain, the abandonment, and TRUST in HIS healing GRACE.  Brokenness does not make us victims unless we allow it.  One of my favorite actions in the Mass is when the priest takes the Eucharist and breaks it.  It reminds me of our oneness with JESUS and HIS brokenness. Today is going to be a great day because I am not alone in my brokenness! I have Our Lord and so do you!  Have a beautiful day!

Buon Giorno Monsignor I loved loved yesterday’s message on brokenness, when I read today’s title I thought, yes… we are all broken in one way or another. What separates us from one another, how we REACT to our individual pain. Sharing our journeys you stated, “We realize that each of our pain differs in some ways; it is really just pain.” Our ability to heal from our pain requires full blind faith in our Father, he plans our journey and during the midst of our path we are literally waking through a dense lush Forrest unable to see the canopy. HIS canopy maybe mistaken as an obstacle but once we realize HE never abandons us nor forsakes us we can alter our perspective into the paradigm shift in our mindset; the canopy is not an obstacle, the canopy HE gifts is is for our protection. This was a hard concept fir me to understand much less accept, but once I did my healing soared, mentally, physically and spiritually. Our omnipresent omnipresent Father gifted me painful journeys which literally broke me, why? Well, we are not to judge but I’ll hypothesize. I needed growth: spiritually, physically and mentally, HE was removing me from a toxic situation or relation or both, HE was preparing me to appreciate true happiness, joy and love. I feel HE was doing all of the above. My painful divorce prepared me to now appreciate the man in my life who truly genuinely loves me unconditionally. My physical pain allowed me to be grateful for each day I’m gifted, as my “gifts” from above are incurable I truly do nothing take any moment nor relationship for granted. Through my BROKENNESS I’ve experienced true HEALTH and I’m thankful for my painful journey, HE’s made me a stronger child of God. Have a BLESSED day Monsignor, you’re making a gargantuan footprint in thousands of lives! Dr. Marta Chipres (formally Escobar)
