As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about a book I read years ago called, “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.”  I know this saying is true, but it’s harder to practice living it.  It makes me wonder why I make such a long To Do List every day, why I have trouble sitting still and reflecting, or how I get annoyed when something I plan doesn’t go just the way I wanted. 

When we choose to follow Jesus, we can’t “sweat the small stuff”.  Jesus is always bringing us sacred interruptions to see if we can find the HOLINESS at the moment.  We can learn that we do not have to control the moment; rather, we can actually be present in it.  Whether it be a house that needs to be cleaned, or a flat tire, or an endless list; our attitude makes all the difference.  Are we serving our To Do list or our Lord?  Can we see the lessons in the sacred interruptions?  Are we holding onto the past or embracing the present?  When we strive to put Jesus in the center of our lives, it’s all small stuff! 

Today, I will strive to see Jesus in all the simple tasks, the small things, and make their prayers of GRATITUDE.  I think I will put that on my list!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about TIME.  This morning, when I looked at my clock, it was 4:05 AM.  And I thought that 4:05 AM is the only time that I will have this very moment. There will never ever be another exact 4:05 AM today.  What if I could see all TIME like that, knowing that no moment will ever repeat itself. And I have the ability to be present and joyful in this very moment.  

I have been watching the TV series called “The Chosen.” (I highly recommend it.)  In it, I have noticed that Jesus is always present in the moment.  He takes advantage of each moment, not manipulating it, but rather living it to its fullest. 

So this is our challenge, to wake up with a smile, to be grateful for the moments that we will never experience again, and to be present.  You will never have another day like today, this day, so why not make it the best day ever?  Put a smile on your face and get excited about all that God has planned for you today.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was reflecting on a quote from St. Francis de Sales, “Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow; the same everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you tomorrow and every day.  Either HE will shield you from suffering, or HE will give you unfailing strength to bear it.  Be at peace then, put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations and say continually: the Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart has trusted in HIM, and I am helped.  HE is not only with me but in me and I in HIM.”

There is so much more we can learn and so much more PEACE we can achieve if we only LISTEN to the Lord.  He will give us all we need for today, so forget about yesterday, and don’t fret about tomorrow.  Let’s live today THROUGH HIM, WITH HIM AND IN HIM!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus I was thinking about PROBLEM-SOLVING. I know a lot of friends who were raised not to talk about their problems and that denial has caused even greater issues. Sometimes we spend more time reacting to a problem than just taking care of it and solving it. All people have problems they have to work through. We need to focus on solving our problems, sometimes this means setting time in the morning to focus. When we face and solve our problems it is easy to stay focused in the present moment. Just because you have problems does not mean that God is punishing you, in fact, that is absurd. Problems are just a part of life but what we do with them is the real test. So today face and SOLVE today’s problems, don’t worry about yesterday‘s there’s nothing you can do about them turn to God and ask for guidance and help! It says in Philippians 4:6,“ do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God.“ Proverbs 3:5,“ trust in the Lord with all your heart, I do not lean on your own understanding.“ Matthew 7:7,“ ask, and it will be given to you; sick, and you will find it; knock, and it will be open to you.“Today turn to the Lord, solve the problems at hand and then let them go live in HIS peace and love!
