As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I am thinking about the word TRUST. There have been many times when I did not trust where God was taking me. A few years ago, I was traveling on a train in Italy. When I switched trains, I got on the wrong one. I was traveling alone, so I got very nervous. It was going to be hours before I would be able to get off, switch trains, and head back.

When I sat in the section of the train I had been assigned to, I spent the next three hours making new friends. And I’ve kept them for life. Sometimes God takes us to places and puts us in situations so that we can grow, meet new people, and find connections. I now consider that train ride to be one of the greatest blessings I have received. When we let God be the conductor and lead us where we need to go, we will see that there is a reason for everything. It says in Proverbs 16:9, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. “ Today, go wherever the SPIRIT leads you, even if you don’t understand. TRUST and be patient. God may have placed you there for Reasons you have no idea of. Follow the spirit! Have a blessed day!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I continued to think about the word CHANGE.

Marcus Aurelius once said, “No man steps in the same river twice because the river has changed and so has the man.” Life seems to always be in constant change, and I think we are changing too. It is the reason why a personal relationship with Christ is so important. To allow HIS spirit to change and mold us is to be Christ-like.

I read a simple prayer that I liked, “Heavenly Father, I don’t know what the future holds, but I know YOU hold the future.”

As we begin our day and go to work or school, let’s embrace the change! The Spirit of God is guiding us. HIS SPIRIT reminds us that HE is in control and that everything that is changing is part of this plan. GO WITH THE FLOW!

Today, put a smile on your face and look at a beautiful new fall day in November. It’s a new day and a new opportunity to make Christ present.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I think of the word TRUTH!

One of my good friends sent me a quote yesterday. It said, “Oftentimes, it is the built-up debris that causes us to go deeper, so we can search for the TRUTH. Go deep, live life from the TRUTH within, and watch your innate beauty manifest outward.”

Today, what a time to go deeper into the TRUTH. It is not a long conversation, you don’t have to read books; it is just taking the time to quiet yourself and allow yourself to go inward to be one with HIM.

Not DOING, just BEING! Allowing HIS spirit to be one with yours. Today is another opportunity for us to seek the TRUTH!

May the TRUTH shine through you and make this world a better place.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking of the word MAGNITUDE!

It’s a powerful word, defined as a great size or extent of something. Everything that Jesus says or does has great Magnitude. This is something we need to embrace.

When I LOVE with great magnitude, FORGIVE with great magnitude, and LIVE-with great magnitude, things begin to happen. With all the negativity that surrounds us, the answer is for us to produce a great positive magnitude of LOVE.

A kind word, patience, reaching out to someone else, all can bring a MAGNITUDE of love.

Today, I am going to live in the magnitude of God’s love. I’m going to stop complaining, stop worrying, and allow the energy that God offers to control my life and my day. I am going to be drawn into HIS grace and spirit and allow it to flow through me to others. This way we can create a great MAGNITUDE of love.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I decided to call this, “Don’t Forget HIM Day”.

Every day is a great day to recognize what God has done for us. We can look back with gratitude that we are here today. And we can look forward to what God has in store for us this day.

Today is your new beginning. Take time to renew yourself by FOCUSING on the FATHER, CENTERING on the SON, and SURRENDERING to the SPIRIT!

Put a smile on your face, a bounce in your step, and HIS Spirit in your heart!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about another one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, JOY! I think that here is a difference between happiness and JOY. We can be going through very difficult times in our lives and still feel moments of JOY. That is when we experience the JOY that Jesus is our Lord and know that there is nothing to worry about.

I’m re-reading a book by Henry Nouwen, and in it he states that the greatest gift we can give anyone is our own personal inner JOY, peace, silence, solitude, and well-being. We may want to do things for people, or sometimes feel that we’re taking on other people’s problems and issues (otherwise known as codependency), but that does not really help them.

What people need to experience is the inner peace, JOY, and the positive energy that flows from a person who knows the Lord. Today, I am going to focus on JOY! Everything may not be perfect in my life, but I do feel God’s presence deep within my heart, and that brings JOY. That is the greatest gift I can share today! Have a blessed, joy-filled day.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about the word CLOSURE. Someone sent me a quote the other day that said, “If the door CLOSES, quit banging on it! Whatever was behind it wasn’t meant for you. Consider the fact that maybe the door was CLOSED because you were worth so much more than what was on the other side.”

Throughout our lives, we have moments where there is CLOSURE. It could be the death of someone we love, the end of a marriage, a change in our occupation, or even things like depression and anxiety. Sometimes we need to take a good look at our lives and not be afraid to CLOSE the door that brings pain and open the one that brings us new beginnings. It’s amazing how many doors keep opening. I think that must be how Jesus works.

Today, try not to see closure as something negative, but rather as something exciting. I used to love the TV show, “Let’s Make a Deal”…I always wanted to know what was behind Door Number Two! Have a great day and just watch as new doors open. And be sure to let the Spirit of God lead you.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I am thinking about the word ENERGY. From the time my eyes open in the morning until the end of the day, my ENERGY level changes. Have you ever met someone who drains you of your energy because of all their drama? On the same note, have you ever met someone whose energy is so contagious that they lift your spirit?

As Christians, our ENERGY (or Spirit) needs to flow from our relationship with Christ. This is what made the disciples so dynamic. The SPIRIT of Christ was the ENERGY that flowed out of them.

How is your energy level today? Are you tired or overwhelmed, angry or sad? Then it’s time to reconnect with our Lord and allow HIS ENERGY to lift you up. Today, become energized by the one who created you and who loves you. And then take that ENERGY and SPIRIT and spread it to our world. There is only one kind of real ENERGY, and that is ENERGY that comes from the FATHER, through the SON, in the HOLY SPIRIT.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about the word ANXIETY. I’ve had so many calls and emails from people telling me that they are full of anxiety. The Bible says DO NOT be anxious about anything; Philippians 4:6, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with THANKSGIVING make your request known to God!”

This is perfect advice for tumultuous times. Take time through your day to stop and take a deep breath, and know that everything is in GOD’s hands. Tell God what you’re worried about, name it out loud, and then, with Thanksgiving, hand it over to HIM, trusting that HE hears your prayers, and HE will give you everything you need! I’m not sure why we always make it so hard. Jesus makes it very easy. We were not made to live in anxiety, we were made to live in trust in JESUS!
