As I sit to have my cup of coffee with Jesus and watch the sun come up, I was thinking about FRIENDSHIP.

You never really know who your true friends are until you go through a difficult time.

Jesus wants to be OUR friend. HE has invited us into a personal relationship, based on LOVE, MERCY, AND FORGIVENESS!

To build a relationship with anyone requires the desire to spend time with them.

With time, the relationship builds trust and vulnerability. To build our relationship with Jesus, we need to study HIS word, experience HIM in the sacraments, and spend time alone with HIM in prayer and meditation.

Over the past few years, I have grown in my relationship with Christ by taking this simple time every morning to turn to Him!

He has taught me so much. Today, Jesus invites YOU into that same relationship.

Pour yourself a cup of coffee, get out your Bible, and sit back and get to know Him!

He is waiting. I think He likes a strong caramel macchiato, or at least I know I do!

Today is another absolutely beautiful morning, having coffee with Jesus.

Each day, I reflect on the daily readings, followed by a devotional, the Office, and the Rosary.

At the end of Mass, I was thinking of how easy it is to know a lot about God but not to know HIM.

Don’t get me wrong. All of that reading and prayer is not a waste of time, but should lead to a deeper desire to spend time with HIM, to wait quietly and patiently to hear HIS voice.

It should lead to an increased desire to talk to HIM, to speak from the heart, to slow down enough to share with Him the yearnings of the heart.

It should be a time to dedicate this new day to HIM, and a desire to be open to the plans HE has for you, to see HIM throughout your day.

Today, add to your time with HIM in SILENCE. Clear your mind, breathe deeply, and be in HIS presence.

How can it not be the best day ever when HE is present to us and we recognize it?

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I am thinking about CHANGE. CHANGE is not easy.

The seasons are changing. Even the way we worship is changing. School, family life, shopping, and social life are all changing. The one thing that is consistent is JESUS CHRIST.

We need to focus on the fact that we were created for one thing: to KNOW, LOVE, and SERVE Christ. Changes are happening; they are out of our control, but our relationship with JESUS is within our grasp.

The most important thing IS that we CHANGE ourselves. Today, let us move out of the fear of change into a personal relationship with HIM!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about SELF-PEACE.  I decided to escape to the beach where I ran into friends, and we began talking about SELF-PEACE. There’s a difference between the PEACE we sometimes feel in the world and SELF-PEACE. Self-peace comes from the inside, knowing that we are living God‘s plan in our lives and content even with chaos, attacks, and pain.  

SELF-PEACE requires a deep relationship with Christ, trusting that He will carry us through life. And there is even purpose in the trials that we go through. When we find SELF PEACE, we find the presence of God. 

Today, I’m going to strive for SELF-PEACE, a peace that draws me into the sacredness of the relationship of the Father, Son, and Spirit. What a gift SELF PEACE is!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about what it means to LET GO. There are so many things we need to LET GO of! We may need to let go of hurts from the past. We may need to let go of relationships and friendships that are unhealthy. We may need to let go of held-in anger and resentment. The good thing about letting go of things is that it makes room to HOLD ON to things that are important.

Today, maybe you could think about what you need to let go of. Make a list of four or five things that trouble you. Then make a list of four or five things that you want to embrace. It’s amazing how the small exercise can put things into perspective. I am working on my list this morning and had to stop at four or five because I probably have 15 things I need to let go of. But today, I’m going to pick only four or five. My list of what I need to hold on to is inspired by Jesus. I need to hold onto HIS love, HIS strength, HIS word, HIS forgiveness, and HIS mercy.

So today, I am calling it SELECTION DAY. Select what needs to go and what needs to be held onto. 

I guarantee it will be a wonderful day!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus on Christmas Eve morning, I think about why Jesus came into the world.  The incarnation is about CHANGE!  When humankind lost its vision of the CREATOR, God visited us on earth.  His name was JESUS, and HE came to bring change.

Jesus came to proclaim GOOD NEWS!  He came to heal and bring us back into relationship with the FATHER.  He comes again to bring CHANGE, to remind our world that we were created to LOVE.  He came to remind the world today that we need to get rid of all bitterness and hate, judgment, and condemnation.  He came to remind us to care for the least of us!

Today, I am going to reflect what I need to change in my life.  CHANGE begins with reflection, and reflection with gratitude.  I realize how powerfully God has worked in my life!  I acknowledge this, and I’m grateful for HIS love and guidance, even through the most difficult times of life!  Today I welcome Jesus into my life, my heart, our world.  EMMANUEL GOD IS WITH US!  I think I will sing all day!
