As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking of the word PERSEVERE.

There is a difference between perseverance and endurance. Perseverance consists of having an absolute trust in what is going to happen. To PERSEVERE through any hardship is built on trust that there is nothing to fear. Jesus stood for love, peace, justice, forgiveness, and mercy. To PERSEVERE means that we believe in all of this and that we will not be let down because Jesus is always at our side. There may be moments in our life we experience disappointment, challenges, and even suffering, but through it all we remain faithful to God’s promises. We want to be like Saint Timothy, who said, “I fought the good fight. I finished the race. I kept the faith!”

Today, PERSEVERE with joy and peace. Be a true witness that Jesus is the Lord of your life!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about “HANGING ON”.  Sometimes it feels as though we’re just HANGING ON. The big question becomes what are we hanging on to?  Are we hanging onto the past?  Are we hanging on to what the future might hold?  Are we hanging on by a thread? 

When times and situations seem difficult, maybe we are struggling with one of our children, or grief, or depression, or anxiety, we FEEL like we’re BARELY hanging on.  But when we have Jesus in our lives, we’re not hanging on, HE is HOLDING US UP.  These all become lessons of our trust in HIM and in HIS WORD!

So, today, instead of hanging on, FEEL HIS arms wrapped around you, feel the strength, the love, and the peace.  Whatever is going on in your life, HE is allowing it for your growth and holiness, and for the growth and holiness of others.

Today, HE is there for you, and HE has HIS arms tightly wrapped around you.  Have a blessed day, and if you’re going to hang onto something, hang on to the promise that it’s going to be a better day!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I think of the word PERSEVERANCE.  When we turn to Jesus in times of struggle, we grow strong in perseverance.  The Scriptures tell us in Romans 5:3-5 that we are to “exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”

When I was a child, I remember watching TV and suddenly a symbol would come on and you would hear the words, “This is a test.  This is only a test.” The same is true with our world.  When will we turn to Jesus and surrender?  When will we realize how, as a world, we have turned away from HIM?  Today is a day to persevere. This, too, shall pass; Jesus is in control!

So, today, relax, smile, it’s a wonderful day.  “It is just a test, it is only a test”, and our faith, hope and love are in Jesus!  Have a blessed day!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus today, I was reflecting on a quote a friend sent me from Saint Padre Pio.  Padre Pio said, “In the meantime, don’t worry to the point of losing your inner peace.  Pray with perseverance, with faith, with calmness and serenity.”

September 11th brought fear and anxiety into our world, anxiety that has continued.  But we need to listen to the words of this saint.  We need to hold on to our inner peace, remain prayerful, and persevere.  Yes, there is evil in the world, but with faith, we can bring the presence of God to a world that desperately needs it, and restore PEACE!

Today, I will remember; the lives lost on 9-11.  I will NOT forget.  But I will also refuse to live in fear and lose the Father’s PEACE!  God will destroy evil.  We cannot give into fear!  I will remain prayerful and will persevere.
