As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, taking a day to catch up with my thoughts, I was thinking of a special verse in scripture that I call my LIFE verse. When I had my conversion back in college, this Scripture from Jeremiah spoke to me.

Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the PLANS I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to PROSPER you and not to harm you, PLANS to give you HOPE and a future”. This verse helps me to remember that God always has a plan for me, and my only responsibility is to be OPEN to it. So, I sit here in GRATITUDE that God loves me so much and has a plan for me.

Being a person who likes to have control, it reminds me how much more I must surrender. So, today I sit in gratitude for HIS PLAN. I have been blessed with a beautiful family and wonderful grandkids, good friends, much support, and a deep FAITH in CHRIST. I don’t know why sometimes I doubt there’s a PLAN; He has never let me down. Today I’m going to trust in HIS PLAN!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking of the word “YIELD”.

You do not see that word very often, but while driving the other day, I came up to a sign that said YIELD. I had to stop and think for a moment and remember that the definition of YIELD is to give way!

I often find myself in such a hurry that I fail to YIELD to what God is asking me to do. I need to practice the art of yielding to God’s plan in my life so that I am not rushing full speed ahead into my own. Scriptures tell me HIS WAYS are not my ways. It is important that I YIELD when I come to an intersection and is important that I YIELD to the plans of Christ.

Today, as I go through the day, I will focus on yielding, YIELDING to the needs of others, YIELDING to my family, and, most importantly, YIELDING TO the voice of God! I have personally seen what happens when you DON’T yield. It always ends up in disaster.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking of the word UNDERSTANDING.

I realize I do not understand all the ways in which God works, so I must TRUST HIM.

His ways are not our ways! I have to trust that there are no details in my life that are hidden from the FATHER.

Oftentimes, I must remind myself that God did not create me to understand these things, but to KNOW, LOVE, AND SERVE HIM!

That helps me to live just for today and to center my day on him.

I often want to control, to make things happen, and yet, HIS will is perfect!

Today, I am going to live in HIS trust and promises.

I’m going to live joyfully, peacefully, in the day that HE has made for me.

I will handle only today, whatever sacred interruptions come, and trust that they are part of the heavenly plan.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about the word EXCITEMENT. It seems like it has been long time since people have been EXCITED about anything. The other day, a friend said to me, “The only thing I am excited about is going to bed at night and saying goodbye to a nothing day.”  

As Christians, we should be EXCITED about many things. We should be excited about each new day and the many ways in which God speaks to us.  We should be excited that, as a community, we can work through many obstacles. We should be excited about God’s WORD, and know that we are not alone, that there is a divine plan.  

So, it’s time to wake up and get EXCITED.  It’s time to stop complaining about what was and be excited about what IS.  Just think, we have a whole day to see God’s hand at work. We have the choice to be EXCITED or BORED. I’ve decided I’m going choose to be EXCITED today!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was reflecting on the amazing things God does in our lives.  I was thinking about my eight children.  How young I was when God brought them into my life.  I certainly didn’t know what I was doing, when at twenty-one years of age, I got the first one.  In time, I was blessed to be given the responsibility of eight, and they gave me nineteen grandchildren.  Who would have thought that God had a plan for all of us, together? 

It is good to go back and look at the gifts God has brought into your lives. Yes, there have been struggles and trials, but as I sit here with my cup of coffee, I feel overly BLESSED.  On this cold morning, it is great to wake up and know that the LIVING God has blessed, and will continue to bless, HIS CHILDREN.

So- today, pour a cup of coffee, look back and see all the ways that God has blessed you and cared for you.  HE is not done.  If you do this, it cannot help but be a wonderful day!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I celebrate this day.  This was the day I was ordained a priest.  I followed Jesus’ voice and call, and He gave me a great journey.  Although I did choose to leave, one day when the truth is out, people my understand my choice.  But it really doesn’t matter, as I followed Jesus.  

But the beauty of this day is my recommitment to serve Christ.  He has carried me through so much and yet has made Himself so present in guiding me in my new life.  We all need to listen to HIS voice.  It may take us to places we never dreamed of, but the journey is amazing and freeing.  When we remember who we follow, when we remember who guides our lives, we can find HIS peace!  

So, today I am grateful for all the wonderful people I have served and met on the journey, and pray for those who try to destroy God’s plan.  It is a great day to celebrate a God that has a plan for each of us.

As I have my cup of coffee with Jesus, and read my reflections, I am stuck on the word “IF.”  How often do we use that word “IF?”  I would have done this or that “IF” this had happened in my life, “IF” things had turned out differently.  “IF” always takes us to the past.  Jesus calls us to live in the present, to “BE!”

I love these moments in the morning, because they allow me to BE with HIM, to breathe in the newness of life, and hope, and peace.  When I live in the “IF,” I am agitated, frustrated, and cannot find peace.  To BE is not a far place to travel to, it is just PRESENT, in this moment.  It is here that we encounter the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the mystery of our faith, the PRESENT…HIS PRESENCE.

Today, I am going to strive to BE, and, IF I do not, that is my own doing.  My first thought is I wonder IF it is going to be 100° here today!  Negativity and dread already!  So, I change my thinking; it is going to BE at least 100 degrees?!  See how easy that is?

It is another beautiful morning, having coffee with Jesus.  All of the reflections I am reading this morning seem to come together today.  In Philippians 4:13 it says, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”  Each day, we struggle not to complain, and I wonder if it really matters.  It just is what it is!  

The bigger question becomes what we are doing with it …with our time, our attitudes?  Have we become better people when challenged?  Have we learned a little patience?  Have we slowed down from our fast-paced lives?  And have we grown closer to the Lord? 

We can do all things through HIM who strengthens us, but we need to turn to HIM.  We may never know all the facts, we may have done things differently, but what are we doing today?  Do we believe God is strengthening us for even greater things?  

Today, we have a choice.  We can complain about what’s going on or we can make this the best day of our lives!  It is our choice to bring God’s spirit to the forefront.  

I heard it may be close to 100 degrees today.  We can moan and groan, or we can rejoice.  But it is what it is, and Jesus has a perfect day planned for us.
