As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I think of the word NEIGHBOR. I am blessed to live in a wonderful neighborhood. I don’t think a day goes by that I don’t see someone doing something kind for someone else. Yesterday, I sat on my porch on a beautiful afternoon and saw a NEIGHBOR across the street take some food to another NEIGHBOR who has been under the weather. I watched some families ride by on their bikes; they stopped to say hello. And there were lots of dog walkers and people are out planting flowers in their gardens, taking time to chat.

It’s important to get to know your NEIGHBORS. So much fear has come into our world that people are afraid to get to know each other. Neighborhoods are really just small communities, but together we can do great things.

So, today I am going to pray for my NEIGHBORHOOD and see what I can do to be a better NEIGHBOR. Today, be a great NEIGHBOR, get to know the people around you, and try to build a community based on peace and love. Jesus would expect nothing less.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about the words CROSSES TO BEAR. Many stood by and watched Jesus go by, but Simon of Cyrene and Veronica took action. The world will always remember them because Simon of Cyrene helped Jesus carry the cross. And we will remember Veronica for her courage and kindness in wiping the face of Jesus.

We all have CROSSES TO BEAR, and we need each other to help to carry them. Today, think of friends who need help carrying the cross and become a CROSS BEARER. Call them, visit them, enter into their passion, and be a friend. What a beautiful world it would be if we helped each other carry our crosses.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking of the word NEIGHBOR.

I am blessed to live in a wonderful neighborhood. I don’t think a day goes by that I don’t see someone doing something kind for someone else.

Yesterday, as I sat on my porch on a beautiful day, I saw a neighbor across the street take some food to another neighbor who has been under the weather.

I watched other families ride by on their bikes and stop to say hello.

And there were lots of dog walkers and people out planting flowers in their gardens, all taking time to stop and chat.

We even have a NEIGHBOR who, every morning, goes all through the neighborhood, checking on people, bringing cards by for people to sign for special occasions.

I have even been blessed with some of her baked goods and bouquets of sweet peas.

It’s important to get to know your NEIGHBORS. So much fear has come into our world that people are afraid to get to know one another.

Today, I am going to pray for my NEIGHBORHOOD and see what I can do to be a better NEIGHBOR.

Neighborhoods are small communities and together we can do great things. So today, be a great NEIGHBOR.

Get to know the people around you and try to build a community based on peace and love.

Jesus would expect nothing less.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about the gift of FRIENDSHIP.

You come to know who your real friends are when you go through tough times in life.

I thought about the kind of friend I am. Do I reach out to people when they are suffering, or sick, or troubled?

Am I a true friend, or am I just one when it is convenient?

And it can be painful when friendships change or end.

True friends are hard to come by, but when we find one, it’s like finding a rare pearl.

Jesus wants to be our friend, someone we can trust.

Jesus is there for us to share our fears and trials, knowing that HE will stand by us.

Today, I’m going to pray in a special way for all my friends , even my four legged ones, and pray that I can be a good friend.

And I am going to thank God for the gift of friendships, true friendships.

And I am going to reach out to a friend in need today.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus with my new mug, I was thinking about the need to REACH OUT.

Sometimes in our daily walk, our energy is low. We might be fighting depression, or we just feel overwhelmed with problems, and that’s when we should hear the words from our Lord, REACH OUT!

In times like this, we need to go outside of ourselves and reach out. Call a friend, visit someone who is sick, write a card to somebody who is in a hospital, make sandwiches for the homeless, do something to get out of self-REACH OUT!

And while you are reaching out, REACH OUT to the Lord. Ask HIM to bring light into your life and into your heart.

Ask HIM to inspire you so you can inspire others, and ask HIM to lift you out of darkness into his loving embrace.

REACH OUT!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about a phrase I read in a reflection, “CROSS BEARERS FOR CHRIST.”

What a powerful phrase, as each of us are called to be CROSS BEARERS! Being a CROSS BEARER, like Simon of Cyrene, means to take action, to not be afraid to get into the arena, to use our brokenness for service.

Many people sat back and watched Jesus go by, but Simon of Cyrene took action.

We hear in scripture, Matthew 16:24-26, “If anyone wishes to come after ME, He must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow ME.”

The world will always remember the name of Simon of Cyrene because he helped Jesus with the cross.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about the word KINDNESS.

Ephesians 4:32 says, “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

Yesterday, I witnessed so many acts of KINDNESS. From breakfast in the morning with a priest friend, to all the people that came up to me, to lunch at Woolgrowers, the waitress, all the people..everywhere I went I experienced KINDNESS.

I visited a few friends who are very ill and the KINDNESS their caregivers were showing was beautiful.

Colossians 3:12 says, “Put on then, as GOD’S chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, KINDNESS, humility, meekness and patience.”

Can you imagine what our world would be like if we all did simple acts of KINDNESS?

Today, be aware of the tone in your voice, of all of the occasions that God gives you to share KINDNESS, and act on it.

As we show KINDNESS, we show GOD!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about all of the people who have been talking to me about loneliness and depression. Both are very real things. If you’re one of the lucky ones who doesn’t suffer from them, know that you still play an important part in the lives of those who do.

Throughout my life, I have dealt with depression and I’ve also had some times of loneliness. But I’ve never really felt alone. Part of that is because I’m an extrovert and I like being around people. But there are serious issues in our world today, and the SCRIPTURES offers us great help when we are feeling down or alone.

One of my favorite scriptures is, “The Lord HIMSELF goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,” Deut. 31:8. So, if you suffer from depression or loneliness, know you are never alone. The Lord IS with you! Never be afraid to reach out to someone!

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus this morning, I was thinking that if I were president, I would make this LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR Day. I would ask every person in the country to do a kind act, to reach out to someone in need, and to just be loving! I would be excited to see the energy and positive gifts that would travel through every community and change the way we live.

That’s what Jesus would do, and I remind you that he is the KING. So, today we can start by just being kinder and more loving. We need to be more respectful, more kind, and loving. This begins in the home. Today, I am going to live LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR Day and invite you to join me. Have a blessed day!
