As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about the power of POSITIVE THINKING. It is so easy to look around and complain, to feel that everything is going wrong. But, as Christians, we are called to see God’s hand in everything.

Maybe you’ve spent a lifetime around negative people and have absorbed that disease. Negative thinking empowers the problem. We need to find the balance in our lives and open our eyes to what is good each and every day. We need to bring the POSITIVE message of the GOSPEL. Positive energy heals, brings love, and transforms!

The Scriptures remind us in Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

Today, make it a POSITIVE day. Fill the morning with positive thoughts. Bring the POSITIVE message of Christ to the world.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about a book I read years ago called, “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.” I know this saying is true, but it’s harder to practice living it. It makes me wonder why I make such a long To Do List every day, or why I have trouble sitting still and reflecting, or how I get annoyed when something I plan doesn’t go just the way I wanted.

When we choose to follow Jesus, we can’t “sweat the small stuff”. Jesus is always bringing us sacred interruptions to see if we can find the HOLINESS in the moment. We can learn that we do not have to control the moment; rather, we can actually be present in it. Whether it be a house that needs to be cleaned, or a flat tire, or the endless list; our attitude makes all the difference. Are we serving our To Do list or our Lord? Can we see the lessons in the sacred interruptions? Are we holding onto the past or embracing the present? When we strive to put Jesus in the center of our lives, it’s all small stuff!

Today, I will strive to see Jesus in all the simple tasks, the small things, and make them prayers of GRATITUDE. I think I will put that on my list!

It’s a beautiful morning, having my cup of coffee with Jesus.

I watch the sun come up and I’m really thinking and praying about a NEW day.

I have some things that I want to get done, and some people to check on and talk to, but I also want to be present in my attitude and my speech throughout the day.

I want to notice all of the blessings God places before me today.

A neighbor is walking by with his dog and says good morning to me.

That might be a common phrase, but today it feels fresh and new. It is a good morning.

It becomes a good day when I change my attitude, when I see the endless things that can happen which have allowed me to experience God.

As the sunrises, I see God’s creation coming alive, the birds are singing and everything is green.

And I praise God. I do have things to do today, but it’s all about my attitude.

I’m asking God to give me an attitude of gratitude all day.

From unloading the dishwasher, tutoring grandchildren, listening to people share their stories, and being present in the moment, it’s all about attitude and we need to begin first thing in the morning.

So, pour yourself a cup of coffee. Take a few moments to reflect on the fact that THIS is the day the Lord has made.

Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

There are some things I need to get done today.

I have a number of appointments and some people I need to check on, but I really want to be PRESENT AND POSITIVE.

I want to be PRESENT in my attitude, my speech, and my awareness throughout the day.

I want to acknowledge all of God’s blessings as they take place.

It’s easy to become overwhelmed with what we have planned for the day, but it’s even more amazing when we change our ATTITUDE and awaken.

As the sun rises this morning, I see God’s creation coming alive.

Today, I’m going to work on my attitude, praising GOD while unloading the dishwasher, or meeting with friends, or reading and writing.

Today, pour yourself a cup of coffee, and take a few moments to make this the best day.

For this is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking of the word CHOICE.

Every day of our lives, we make choices. I wish I could say we always make good CHOICES, but if we make a bad choice, we are blessed to have faith and another chance to make things new.

Today, as we wake up, we can make a CHOICE as to how we’re going to live.

We can begin by dedicating our day to serving Christ or we can choose to work on our To Do List.

We need to think often about the CHOICES we make and we need to include Jesus in them.

We can CHOOSE to put a smile on our faces and greet people with joy, or we can be negative all day.

We can CHOOSE to see the beauty of God’s creation or we can spend the day complaining.

Isn’t it a wonderful gift that we get to CHOOSE?

Today I am going to CHOOSE to make this a day of joy, love, and forgiveness.

I am going to CHOOSE to put a smile on my face and celebrate a new day!

What a great day to be grateful and to CHOOSE to make the world a better place.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about PERSPECTIVE. How we view our circumstances completely changes our attitude and experience. When we look through the lens of faith, obstacles become opportunities for growth.

Ask God to give you His eyes today so you can see your life and the people around you with hope and clarity.

As I sit out on my porch this beautiful morning, having a cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking how important our attitude about LIFE is!

During times of trouble, it is easy to wonder what there is to do, to feel confined, to want your old life back!

Life is not meant to be endured, life is to be enjoyed and embraced!

We all go through trials and tribulations, but life can be exciting if we strive to live in the present moment.

When life slows down, people tend to dwell on the past or get nervous for the future, and they miss the PRESENT.

As I sit here, I try to move my mind from the “should’ve been” or the “might’ve been” or the “maybe it will happen” to be PRESENT in this very moment.

This moment is perfect, and I am here, and God is here.

I must embrace what is instead of merely enduring.

I know that God will bring me some SACRED interruptions (that is what I call situations, people, and plans I did not count on today), and I will embrace them.

Today, Jesus and I may have a second cup of coffee. I think I want to embrace this moment.

It’s a beautiful morning to have coffee with Jesus. All the reflections I have read this morning all seem to come together today.

It says in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”

Each day I hear people grumble, asking what is life all about.

The bigger question becomes what are we doing with our lives, with our time, and with our attitudes?

Have you become a better person being challenged? Have you learned a little patience?

Have you slowed down from your fast-paced life? And have you grown closer to the LORD?

We can do all things through HIM who strengthens us, but we need to turn to HIM.

We may never know all the “facts”, or the “true meaning of life”.

But do we believe God is strengthening us for even greater things?

Today, we have a choice. We can complain about what is going on or we can make this the best day of our lives!

It is our choice to bring God’s spirit to the forefront.

I heard it may be close to 100 degrees today; we can moan and groan or we can rejoice.

But it is what it is, and Jesus has a perfect day planned.

As I sit and have my cup of coffee with Jesus, I was thinking about how important it is to have a positive attitude in PRAYER.

Sometimes PRAYER can be rather routine, like marking something off of the To Do List.

Sometimes PRAYER is deep and contemplative. What I have come to realize is that it is my attitude is very important.

I am bringing myself present to the Lord and allowing my SOUL to reach out to touch MY CREATOR.

When I have a POSITIVE attitude, my PRAYER is a powerful prayer.

I find myself full of gratitude and blessings. The problems have not gone away and there’s still a long list of things to do, but, for that moment, I allow my soul to touch HIM.

With open arms, HE embraces me and lets me know that everything is going to be OK, actually, not just OK but WONDERFUL.

Today, take a moment to PRAY! PRAY with thanksgiving and praise, PRAY with confidence and trust.

Let me know what happens, because there’s nothing like hearing someone share their story of meeting God face-to-face.
